Before the voting could get underway at a DNC meeting held in Atlanta over who should head the party structure as chairperson, members of the DNC had to first decide whether or not they would reinstate Obama-era rules which barred the party from accepting money from lobbyists.
After contentious debate, the party ultimately elected against reinstating the ban, citing the usefulness of lobbyist cash in elections.

New York's elections laws are outdated and limit access to voters, leading to a record number of complaints during the state's presidential primary in April, Attorney General Eric Schneiderman charged Tuesday.

Schneiderman said his office received 1,500 calls from upset voters during the April primary because New York doesn't allow for same-day registration and doesn't let voters easily change parties.
New York also has a closed primary system, meaning people can't vote in a primary unless they are registered in the party.

"Here in New York we seem to have made it much, much harder to register to vote than it needs to be," Schneiderman said at a Capitol news conference, "and this year’s elections shone a harsh light on the realities of New York registration and voting systems."
